Two Week Art Courses

HEALING THROUGH ART
with KARIN WERNER
The following two training courses in the visual arts adopt a holistic approach in learning for personal and professional development. The underlying position is that the arts are an inherent part of human nature, connecting to body feeling, sense perception, heartfelt passion and the creative mind.
Truly, everybody is an artist!
Once realised the making of art becomes the leading medium for finding a balanced and healed life.

Foundation Course
Making Visible - Becoming Visible
5 - 18 April 2008
16 - 29 August 2008

When the creative path is being accepted and takes roots it will always nudge us on to just this one step further towards new horizons, - and so on, until a new pattern can establish itself. Art reminds us to keep kindling and tending a creative fire which gives healing, sustenance and sustaining power in return. The process may not always be comfortable in the moment but is always rewarding and deeply fulfilling. The Foundation Course creates common ground for beginners as well as accomplished artists who want to go beyond the well-trodden path. In this course tuition and support is available to connect with art playfully and sincerely.
The means are painting, drawing and sculpture work, connecting with the power and beauty of nature and with inner work. There is ongoing space for reading as well as keeping a sketchbook journal for reflection and integration.

Art materials are provided.

Advanced Course
Creating with Spirit and Space
12 - 25 July 2008
30 August - 12 September 2008

Each year in the advanced course the theme and focus changes so that different aspects of art and healing can be addressed. It also gives an opportunity for ongoing experience and learning in those different areas. We create pathways for well being and health through our artistic practice and ongoing connection with the creative source. It strengthens our capacity to form new patterns in life and to trans-form old ones, it accepts and appreciates our efforts to live life as creators.
While the Foundation Course helps to re-connect with the artist we are through exercises in self-awareness and personal development, the emphasis in the advanced courses is on relevant themes in the context of art as healing.
In 2008 the course highlights the dialogue between the essential character of creator and their created artwork. There needs to be an awareness of space and its expression in art for this to happen.
Through specific exercises, explorative intuitive work and through personal projects in painting, drawing or sculpture we develop the tools to work more consistently with art as a balancing and healing agent. Apart from realising personal intentions the course work allows for study and reflective time, as well as small group work to incorporate different aspects of art into professional use.
Art materials are provided.

Both HEALING THROUGH ART courses will be certified by the Findhorn Foundation College and they are CPD approved.

THE ART OF WELL BEING

a 3 day Artist Retreat at the Shambala Centre

Findhorn
with Karin Werner

Dates: 5 - 8 June 2008
18 -21 September 2008

This is a unique opportunity to experience yourself and your art work as a source for creative renewal. Just like in any situation in life, artists can put themselves under strain either from trying too hard, or reversely, not starting on their works of art. Whatever your previous experience with art, our home during the retreat will be the self who knows what the soul needs and how to express it. The aim is to arrive at a state of relaxed perception, supported by the beautiful venue and local landscape. True perception helps us to slow down to those moments of inner content which are called happiness. We will be working with soft chalk pastels for its quality of shimmering beauty in colour and contour. All art materials are included in the fee.
